The Compassion of Christ: 11
Rev Robert Ampiah-Kwofi

Christ’s compassion was demonstrated most strikingly through His healing ministry. It is through His healing ministry that people could personally feel His love and compassion.
A leper came up to Christ and worshipped Him.
Mark 1:40 NKJV
“Now a leper came to Him, imploring Him, kneeling down to Him and saying to Him, “If You are willing, You can make me clean.”

The leper was fully assured of Christ’s power to heal leprosy. He just wasn’t so sure about Christ’s willingness to heal him in particular. Most people rightly believe that God is omnipotent, and that He can do all things.
Mark 10:27 NKJV
“But Jesus looked at them and said, “With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible.”

The challenge many people like this leper face, is to believe that God is willing to intervene in their own personal issues and difficulties.
They believe in God’s power, but they have doubts concerning His love and compassion, towards them.
Jesus responded immediately to dispel this leper’s doubts.
Mark 1:41 NKJV
“Then Jesus, moved with compassion, stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, “I am willing; be cleansed.”

Our Lord Jesus lovingly settled the doubts of this man. His words were a powerful reassurance of His love and compassion for all mankind, in any kind of need.
Jesus didn’t criticise the man for his uncertainty. The man simply lacked knowledge and wisdom, concerning Christ’s compassion.
James 1:5 NKJV
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.”

Our Heavenly Father, graciously invites us to ask Him for wisdom, in any area we are lacking. The leper asked Christ to enlighten him, about God’s willingness to heal a poor leper. Christ assured him that God was willing to heal him.

May Christ’s compassion and love, minister solutions to all the challenges you may face. May you have a clear revelation of God’s love and compassion, in Jesus name.
